Formed in Sacramento in 2018, Waves of Distortion was born from guitarist Brennen Von Slack’s vision of blending melodic distortion with haunting, droning tones. Joined by bassist Glen Evans, drummer Jonas Wahlstrom, and vocalist Josiah Fox, the band quickly forged a heavy yet melodic sound that led to their debut album Race Against Time in 2020, followed by their hard-hitting sophomore release Shattered.
Through the years, Waves of Distortion pushed forward with passion, resilience, and relentless creativity. But in early 2025, tragedy struck with the passing of founding bassist Glen Evans. With Glen’s blessing and memory as a guiding force, Brennen and Josiah chose to continue the band’s journey, evolving their sound while carrying Glen’s spirit with them.
Today, Waves of Distortion stands stronger than ever, featuring Brennen on guitar, Josiah on vocals, Mike McNellis on bass, and Isaiah AR on drums—who also played drums on Shattered. The band has gone through a mix of drummers over the years, but with Isaiah behind the kit, they feel more solid and inspired than ever, aligned in vision and sound.
